Chris, thanks for this article. As I read it, I couldn’t help seeing parallels in my own career. As a former president of a wayfinding design firm that works primarily in healthcare, I keep coming back to it in my new practice for exactly the reasons you state, but mostly because the people who work in healthcare, and those who receive services, are desperately in need of human-centered design. I now work in a much broader communication design space (communication fuels ALL of healthcare experience) in a firm based in Evanston. I’d appreciate the opportunity to connect and continue the conversation.
